The random placement of these two things can make some situations in passable without taking damage, particularly with a limited number of ways of triggering them. Chasm already has the mechanic of discard items and a near worthless item in the form of coal. It could be really need to have discarded items trigger traps and destroy explosive boxes.
I got into a fun situation where I was down to 1 hp, no healing items, and there was a mass of rats with nest filling up an area below me. There was an explosive box and I tried triggering it by dropping down a coal. Nothing happened and thus this idea was born.
Discarded Items Tigger Switches & Bombs
Re: Discarded Items Tigger Switches & Bombs
That's a great idea! I'll definitely keep it under consideration.
Re: Discarded Items Tigger Switches & Bombs
That actually *is* a cool idea. There should be a penalty for it, though. I suggest having it so explosions destroy items that're within range. And maybe blowing up (or burning) enemies reduces the variety of what they can drop.
Re: Discarded Items Tigger Switches & Bombs
Yea, I think it should probably be a sacrifice (heh) if you toss an item on the trap. Maybe if its something stronger like armor or soemthing though it could stand it?
Re: Discarded Items Tigger Switches & Bombs
Just have the resulting explosion simple destroy whatever item you toss. It will be useful, but not streamlined, so I doubt people will use it too often. So don't over complicate it.
