Non-360 Controller Usage
Non-360 Controller Usage
Hello,
Will there be the ability to use a non-360 controller to play the game? I have a USB SNES controller which seems like it would be perfect to use for this game however in the readme the 360controller is specifically mentioned.

Re: Non-360 Controller Usage
Some people have already used other controllers, the game is of course going to be made with X360 in mind. Have you tried using your controller yet, it might work?
Re: Non-360 Controller Usage
I saw a youtube video with someone saying they were using a playstation controller. The only problem is that it will be a little confusing, because the buttons won't match up.
Re: Non-360 Controller Usage
I use a PlayStation 3 controller on my Macbook Pro.
It seems to work OK, but I need to use Enjoy.

However, it seems that the game is trying to auto-detect between keyboard and controller input, and be a bit smart about it. However, because Enjoy maps pad buttons to keyboard buttons, things go a little strange.
It would be really nice to have a menu where I could just push what each pad button is supposed to map to as a pad button in-game, without the aid of key mappers.
Also, on the Mac, PS3 controller over blutooth works a lot better, I find. So, I'd prefer PS3 controller support if possible.

Re: Non-360 Controller Usage
Why not Xpadder? It's the best controller mapper that I've ever used. It's paid but has no DRMs and it's portable. It's really good.
Re: Non-360 Controller Usage
A little offtopic but goes well under the title...
I've played some Symphony of the Night recently and in that game, when in menus, you can just exit all the menus straight away with START button and go straight back to the game. It's not a big deal, but would streamline the menus a bit so that you don't have to hit B B B B B B B every time you go change somethin.

Re: Non-360 Controller Usage
We'll be making that change Bunch of stupid problems with the controls in this build ><

Re: Non-360 Controller Usage
You should try either Xpadder or joy2key. They let you map your buttons to the games keyboard buttons so it will work with any game.
Re: Non-360 Controller Usage
I'm on MacOSX 10.6.8, and I'm using Enjoy to map my PS3 controller to keyboard keys. However, Even with GamepadDetectEnabled=0, I'm still seeing the game try to pick up the wrong keys for the buttons. The buttons are assigned correctly when I type into a text editor, but Chasm doesn't seem to pick it up correctly. I'm not sure what the issues. I really wish the key mapper was available in-game as a UI, so I knew what the buttons are being detected as.
