Cosmetic customisation?

Hi all,

Just a quick question. Do we know if any of the armour / helmets / gear in the game will actually change the cosmetic appearance of the character? I completely appreciate the technical difficulties surrounding the creation of different visual iterations of the character, but there is something rewarding about equipping a new helm / tunic and seeing it visually represented on the character model.

Any information on this would be helpful.

If not, is there any similar game (not necessarily side-scrolling or platform, but rpg and of the same sort of art style that does do this) that anyone knows of?

Thanks,

R2 :D

We have worked out a design that we think will give some level of customization with the Head and Armor slots. We haven't prototyped it in-game yet, but we will soon. If it works well it will make it into the final game.

Maybe not every item should change the appearance of the character, but just some of them? The more rare items. This way we will want to have them even more. If the Chasm game will feature some "Relics" or "quite-hard-to-obtain" items, they would change an appearance of the character. Or some of its actions like rolling or (if still planned) sliding.

Perhaps some weapons should have a special visual attacks. Like Muramasa and some blood somewhere. A Scyte (:P) and some skulls appearing and disappearing on the screens.

This way the developers won't have to make each item unique, but just some/few of them. Most often the game will be normal, but finding that quite rare object will be more rewarding.
