equipment questions

Post by Lailoken » Thu Aug 09, 2018 1:43 am

Do any of these have any special properties?
shaman's ax (this thing was a pain to get and it seems pretty weak)
gladius (is it faster?)
dark armor (it seems so glowy and special)
training sword (bonus exp maybe?)
magic charm (called magic)
trident (says it's magic)

Thanks!

Got to say, I was quite disappointed when I found out that the Swift Sword isn't any faster than its peers. I thought I'd finally found this game's Valmanwe, i.e. something that would slash as fast I can mash the button.

I find it really hard to determine what item's do. If you hadn't told me what the gilded (gildean?) blade did all I would have is a hunch. The effects are subtle enough that short of full on devoted experimentation (requiring a solid hypothesis) you are never going to know what it actually does.

I don;t know what the answer is because I can appreciate trying to keep the discovery alive instead of just spelling it out for everyone. Maybe slightly less subtle descriptions for some things? The practice sword does this fairly well although I still haven't proven my hypothesis. The shaman ax though I have no clue. It says it doubles a a scepter so maybe something to do with spells?

Another idea is maybe a really expensive identify at the witch? I guess the problem with that is you can always just save and load. Maybe you buy an identify for an item and then you have to kill x number of enemies with it equipped before it becomes identified? I guess in the end people will just look it up on the wiki for the most part, but someone has to populate that wiki.

I guess I could try to decompile the source code...but oh god decompiled code is such a nightmare

Also I assume you would prefer I didn't do that? I am trying to imagine how I would feel were this my game and I honestly can't decide.

edit: Although the guide says Trell's sword is not special and I believe you said it swings faster?
